Maudie Alexander - Bass Player
Maudie being originally from Mt. Airy, NC (home of Andy Griffin),having a love for music since a tot. She lives in Sylvatus, Va. Being resigned from Hershey Chocolate Factory, in Pa. In the past few years she found the time to get into great music! Her Mama wrote songs & Poetry and was always going around the 'home-stead singing and Maudie singing with her.With her singing through the years she thought it was time to form an 'energetic band' . Our band 'VictoryXpressblu-graz' has been going pretty strong. Pickin' up the bass & learning was her dream. She likes alot of the 'blu-graz' singers out there, especially Michell Nixon, Jeanette Williams, Dan Ann Bradley, Doyle Lawson. It was her honor to sing with Jeanette in Cana, Va. in 2006. Her Spare time is spent on 'Wellness' and loves time with Family members,shopping with my two daughters, and time with Grand-children. She sings lead and harmony in our band.
Richard Alexander - Guitar 'Picker
Richard has been 'pickin guitar since a young boy, he liked following his dad around at youth , and going to the 'Ole Country Stores sitting on feed-sacks 'pickin his dad's guitar. At the age of nine he actually started 'pickin by ear.He has always been influenced by Charlie Waller "(The Country Gentleman), Doyle Lawsom , JD Crow and others. He lives at Sylvatus Va. Being a Mechanist, for 34 years, in his extra time enjoys 'pickin with our band members . He also enjoys his Sports! The energy is appreciated in his 'pickin! Richard does most of the lead singing in our band .
Charles Stimac - Mandolin 'picker
Charlie had 'picked Mandolin in his earlier years. After 'pickin with a couple bands out west (Lousiania) . He wasn't active in his music for a few years, then picked it back up several years a-go. He lives in Dugspur Va. He writes songs which the band throughly enjoys singing and 'pickin at our Preformances. His high energy on the Mandolin is appreciated! He has his 'own style'. Charlie does the bass' singing in our band. Being a licensed building Contractor , when not at work or 'pickin music , with our band, he enjoys being in some 'knee-deep' strout stream!
Harold Vass - Banjo 'picker
Harold, 'pickin banjo for a number of years now , can 'pic any instrument that has a string on it! He can also make that 'fillde' talk! He has opened for Ralph Stanley, Has previously Played at the 'Carter Fold, and other events. Harold lives at Mt. Lebanon, Va., in the high mountains! His strong 'energic 'pickin is recognized and ear catching! He has played with other bands in the area. Us other three band members feel Harold has really been a plus for helping us all put it together like it should be and like it should 'sound'. His 'harmony' help for us is also what we were missing! He retired from Carroll County School system after 36 years ,as he continues to drive a school bus. When he is not 'pickin blu-graz' music, you will find him working on his farm or doing woodwork in his shop in Mt. Lebanon area of Carroll County. Harold sings baritone and lead in our band.
